Here at CenterStage there's a lot going on. Here are some of our most frequently asked questions!

Dance Questions:

How do i pick up/drop off my student?
If your student is in elementary school, please park and come inside the lobby to pick them up from class. This is for their safety.

CenterStage has a roundabout you can pull into to pickup and drop-off middle and high school students. Please do not park in the roundabout - If your student does not come out right away, please pull through to a parking spot until your student is ready to be picked up. Occasionally, classes can run a few minutes late or students could need a few extra minutes to collect their things.
Where can i park?
You can park in any unreserved parking space, or on a busy night, in the grass. Please do not park and wait in the roundabout.
When is tuition due?
Tuition is due on the 15th of the month prior. For example, March's tuition is due February 15th. Tuition is considered late on the 20th of the month prior. A $10 late fee will be applied for any outstanding balances.
How do I pay tuition?
The easiest way to pay is online through our Parent Portal. Just click that LOGIN button in the top right corner. You can do a one-time payment, or setup automatic withdrawal so you never have to worry about late fees. You can also pay in person during class hours with cash, check, Visa and MasterCard at the front desk.
do you follow sumner county school closings?
Actually no! We have students from all around middle Tennessee, so we form our schedule to best fit the needs of the entire region.
the weather may be bad. how do i know if centerstage is closed?
In case of inclement weather, CenterStage will make an announcement at 12:00 p.m. You can check our voicemail message, your email, homepage of the website, text alerts (to those who opt in to this service), or social media. Parents should always make the final decision on whether or not it is safe to venture out, as we understand that many of our families live in rural areas. If you choose to not attend class when CenterStage is open, you are not eligible for a refund or make-up class.

Additionally, if the CenterStage campus does close due to weather, class will continue in the comfort of your home via Zoom! Links and directions will come via email.

How do i buy tickets?
Tickets are available for all CenterStage events at performcenterstage.eventbrite.com.  This is the only place to buy tickets for our events, so if you are having trouble purchasing tickets feel free to come to the front desk during class hours or call 615-230-9341 so we can help you place your order.
Can I buy tickets at the door?
Yes, if the show/recital is not sold out. However, buying tickets in advance is recommended - tickets are more expensive at the door (even after the additional fees charged by eventbrite.com), and you will not be able to select your seat (as you can when purchasing online) - you will be assigned the next best available seat.
I'm a parent, do i need to buy tickets for the dance recital?
Yes – ticket prices are not included in dance tuition and fees. We’ve opted to charge for admission rather than charge a recital fee to our families. We have found this saves more money for our parents by diversifying the cost of the recital across all attendees. However! Free tickets are available for recital volunteers.
I'M AN EXPERIENCED DANCER, HOW CAN I JOIN MIDYEAR?
In certain circumstances, CenterStage will allow an experienced student, upon an assessment help by multiple instructors, to transfer into an existing, advanced class. The assessment assures that the experienced student can transition in easily to the classroom and its techniques. CenterStage cannot guarantee participation in the recital depending on costume availability. In this situation, the instructor whose student is joining the class must also approve.

Theatre Questions:

Does my student need to have prior experience to participate in musicals or variety shows?
Nope! Anyone with any range of experience can register for any of our theater programs. For solos or lead roles, there will be some light auditioning involved. CenterStage directors strive to feature every student in their productions.
What do i need to wear for theatre rehearsals?
Students can wear anything they can move in: basketball shorts, leggings, etc… Crop tops are not allowed at CenterStage. Please wear tennis shoes! No flip flops!
what costs can i anticipate if my studio participates in a variety show?
On Broadway, Deck the Halls, and Pop Show variety shows are all $175.00 for the seven week workshop. Discounts are available for multiple family members. Tickets are $10 - $16 per seat per show. Each student will create their own costume using clothing from their own wardrobe. Generally, each show has a color theme (for example, the Christmas show costumes are typically red and green).
What costs can i expect if my student participates in the summer theatre intensive?
Our summer theater intensive is $350 for the two week camp. Discounts are available for multiple family members. Tickets are $10 - $16 per seat per show. Rental fees for your students costumes are included in the $350 tuition for these productions. Students will need to provide their own shoes and makeup.

Private Lesson Questions:

Does my private lesson student get to perform?
Yes! We offer two private lesson recitals a year: one in December and one in June. Participation is not mandatory but is encouraged. This is FREE event at CenterStage.
What happens if my student is sick on the day of his or her lesson?
Life happens! CenterStage instructors do need a 24 hour notice to be able to offer a make up lesson. Many of our instructors drive in from Nashville and we wish to protect their time and prevent an unnecessary drive if possible. You will need to directly contact your instructor to let them know you won’t be able to make it.
what costs can i expect if my student is taking private lessons?
Costs for private lessons vary depending on your student. Generally you can expect:
30 minutes a week/$100 a month
45 minutes a week/$150 a month
60 minutes a week/$200 a month
We do not offer discount on multiple private lessons. Depending on the lesson, the instructor may ask the student to purchase curriculum or order books for their studies. This can be anywhere from $8 - $50.
Do i need to buy tickets for the private lesson recital?
Nope! This is a free event put on by CenterStage. The more the merrier. There are even refreshments for the students afterward.

What Our CS Family is Saying

"Centerstage Performing Arts has had a huge impact on my life! I have no idea where I would be without this place. Centerstage was something I looked forward to everyday while in high school. High School could be stressful some days, but being able to see friends and take classes instantly improved my mood. As a guy, you don’t see many other men in theatre/dance. Having other male students and teachers really encouraged me to try new things and really embrace the stage. Centerstage has also helped to prepare me for college. They have helped prepare me for auditions for shows and vocal lessons. I will always be thankful for the impact Centerstage Performing Arts has made on my life!" - Logan Purcell, CS Alumni

"THANK YOU for caring about about the WHOLE child, for costumes & choreography & music that are age appropriate...THANK YOU! For the self confidence I see you cultivating & nurturing in not only my child but so many others...THANK YOU! For the COURAGE to take on this task & follow your heart...THANK YOU! My daughter would not be where or who she is today without her CenterStage family. With every ounce of my soul, I THANK YOU!" - Jennifer Moore, CS Mom

"Thank you for creating a performing arts studio and not just another competitive dance studio.  I am grateful to be a part of a studio where all the girls are accepted and are offered many things to choose from, beyond dance so they can explore so many different avenues of the performing arts!  I so appreciate that when my daughter graduates she is going to take with her all the wonderful memories from class, the friendships she has made, and the life lessons she learned from you guys!" - Deanna Rice, CS Mom

"CenterStage is not a place. It's the people" - Christian Bare, Instructor and Director

"I cannot say enough positive things about Centerstage. The teachers, staff and kids are so kind, caring and encouraging to each other. The support is unbelievable! My daughter has made amazing friends at this studio, many of whom are much older than she is, but they have helped coach and encourage her along the way and she looks up to them so much. I greatly appreciate the modest recital costumes and clothing, they are very much age appropriate. Perhaps most of all however, is the dedication of the owners and teachers. They truly pour their heart and soul into this studio and the children that attend it." - Jessica Vaughn, CS Mom

"Thank you for giving me a new family and a new place to call home. I owe who I am today to the CS Family." - Christian Wilken, Instructor from Nebraska
