Recitals at CenterStage

How do they work?
At CenterStage, we make all of our decisions in the best interest of our students - we know, because we've been in their shoes as dancers ourselves! From class schedules, offerings, and requirements to recitals and performances! All are geared towards helping our students feel ready and confident in their performance.

Multiple Recitals:

With over 250 dance and aerial students, it is impossible to have one recital without limiting the amount of seats patrons can purchase or having an 8 hour recital. All of our recitals are scheduled and designed to be smooth, streamlined, and enjoyable for everyone participating and attending.

Additionally, the majority of our students take more than one class, and in order for them to perform their best, they need to have their dances spaced out over several recitals. Because recitals are grouped according to levels, many of these students may only have one dance in between their numbers to change.

For all of our upper level students, we offer two recital performance opportunities. These students perform in both! Students have expressed appreciation in being able to get their nerves out in the first recital, and perfect any mistakes they may have made in the second one. It's also more bang for your buck when it comes to using that costume!

Venue:

All of our performances are held at our in house theatre. The CS Team has a formula for the amount of students in each recital, with the amount of parents and family members attending, and available parking at our facility to accommodate everyone comfortably.

In the past, we have looked into renting high schools and churches to host our recitals, but with their events and activities it isn't possible. We have also looked into going downtown Nashville to TPAC, but this would involve a significant increase in the price of tickets and a hefty recital fee.

Performing in our space allows us to keep recital tickets low and eliminate the need for a recital fee.

Additionally, recital days are calm and enjoyable for our families and students. Everyone knows where they are going, where to park, what kind of floor they are dancing on, and ... it's home!

Tickets:

CenterStage makes every attempt to keep ticket costs low, while being able to compensate our staff to produce these recitals. Providing performance opportunities come with high costs.
Ticket sales help us cover the cost of renting the building, lighting designer, sound person, multiple stage managers, front of house management, paying our instructors, set design, prop designs, and yearbooks - our gift to the students.

We are aware that Eventbrite charges additional fees on top of the ticket price. In our research, it is comparable to most other ticketing platforms on the market. The additional fees do not go to CenterStage, but cover the cost of being able to allow assigned seating. Offering assigned seating to our families takes away the headache of our patrons having to get to the theatre hours ahead of time of the performance to reserve seats. With assigned seating, our attendees can arrive at the theatre when they wish, grab a snack, and enjoy the show!

Attendance:

At CenterStage, our annual dance recitals are more than just executing knowledge the student has learned in class. Instructors begin the process of creating these individual pieces almost a year in advance, creating choreography and choosing music specifically for your student.

We view classes/cohorts as teams. When one person misses class, it affects the team's ability to clean, polish, and prepare for recital. Please make sure to view our policy on absences in our waiver!

What Our CS Family is Saying

"Centerstage Performing Arts has had a huge impact on my life! I have no idea where I would be without this place. Centerstage was something I looked forward to everyday while in high school. High School could be stressful some days, but being able to see friends and take classes instantly improved my mood. As a guy, you don’t see many other men in theatre/dance. Having other male students and teachers really encouraged me to try new things and really embrace the stage. Centerstage has also helped to prepare me for college. They have helped prepare me for auditions for shows and vocal lessons. I will always be thankful for the impact Centerstage Performing Arts has made on my life!" - Logan Purcell, CS Alumni

"THANK YOU for caring about about the WHOLE child, for costumes & choreography & music that are age appropriate...THANK YOU! For the self confidence I see you cultivating & nurturing in not only my child but so many others...THANK YOU! For the COURAGE to take on this task & follow your heart...THANK YOU! My daughter would not be where or who she is today without her CenterStage family. With every ounce of my soul, I THANK YOU!" - Jennifer Moore, CS Mom

"Thank you for creating a performing arts studio and not just another competitive dance studio.  I am grateful to be a part of a studio where all the girls are accepted and are offered many things to choose from, beyond dance so they can explore so many different avenues of the performing arts!  I so appreciate that when my daughter graduates she is going to take with her all the wonderful memories from class, the friendships she has made, and the life lessons she learned from you guys!" - Deanna Rice, CS Mom

"CenterStage is not a place. It's the people" - Christian Bare, Instructor and Director

"I cannot say enough positive things about Centerstage. The teachers, staff and kids are so kind, caring and encouraging to each other. The support is unbelievable! My daughter has made amazing friends at this studio, many of whom are much older than she is, but they have helped coach and encourage her along the way and she looks up to them so much. I greatly appreciate the modest recital costumes and clothing, they are very much age appropriate. Perhaps most of all however, is the dedication of the owners and teachers. They truly pour their heart and soul into this studio and the children that attend it." - Jessica Vaughn, CS Mom

"Thank you for giving me a new family and a new place to call home. I owe who I am today to the CS Family." - Christian Wilken, Instructor from Nebraska
