CenterStage Performing Arts Academy is an established Secondary Chapter of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts accessible to 9th-12th grade students studying dance who meet the requirements for induction. CenterStage seeks to ensure that excelling dance students within Middle Tennessee area have every opportunity to grow and succeed. This means that students attending a high school without a dance program or whose high school or dance studio are not current chapters, can still be inducted through CenterStage Performing Arts Academy.

What is NHSDA?
The primary mission of the NHSDA is to promote and honor outstanding dance achievement and to encourage well-rounded dance artists to become leaders in their communities after high school graduation.

What are the goals of NHSDA?
  • To promote a desire for life-long learning in the field of dance
  • To encourage an understanding of, and an appreciation for, dance as an art form and develop knowledgeable audiences for tomorrow
  • To identify honor students (grades 11 & 12) for nomination to the NDEO Artistic Merit, Leadership and Academic Achievement Award, one of the highest honor programs for dance in the United States

What do inductees receive?
  • A Certificate of Membership
  • Added prestige in scholarship applications and future resumes
  • Wear NHSDA honor cords and gold honor pins during graduation ceremonies (provided your school will approve them)
  • Acknowledged on the CS website and yearbook
  • Are eligible to apply for the NDEO Artistic Merit, Leadership and Academic Achievement Award.

What do I need to know before I sign up?
  • CenterStage should be considered the "home studio" with an inductee taking at least one weekly class
  • Most points, except those noted, can be counted starting at the beginning of the student's freshman year
  • 20 out of the 30 points must have been at or with CenterStage Performing Arts Academy

Each student seeking Induction will be assigned a CS Staff member to guide them through the process. If you have questions regarding NHSDA or are interested in being inducted, please email us!

What Our CS Family is Saying

"CenterStage is more than just a dance studio, it's a place where memories are made and people come together" - Brenna C., current CS student

"Centerstage Performing Arts has had a huge impact on my life! I have no idea where I would be without this place. Centerstage was something I looked forward to everyday while in high school. High School could be stressful some days, but being able to see friends and take classes instantly improved my mood. As a guy, you don’t see many other men in theatre/dance. Having other male students and teachers really encouraged me to try new things and really embrace the stage. Centerstage has also helped to prepare me for college. They have helped prepare me for auditions for shows and vocal lessons. I will always be thankful for the impact Centerstage Performing Arts has made on my life!" - Logan Purcell, CS Alumni

"THANK YOU for caring about about the WHOLE child, for costumes & choreography & music that are age appropriate...THANK YOU! For the self confidence I see you cultivating & nurturing in not only my child but so many others...THANK YOU! For the COURAGE to take on this task & follow your heart...THANK YOU! My daughter would not be where or who she is today without her CenterStage family. With every ounce of my soul, I THANK YOU!" - Jennifer Moore, CS Mom

"Thank you for creating a performing arts studio and not just another competitive dance studio.  I am grateful to be a part of a studio where all the girls are accepted and are offered many things to choose from, beyond dance so they can explore so many different avenues of the performing arts!  I so appreciate that when my daughter graduates she is going to take with her all the wonderful memories from class, the friendships she has made, and the life lessons she learned from you guys!" - Deanna Rice, CS Mom

"CenterStage is not a place. It's the people" - Christian Bare, Instructor and Director

"I cannot say enough positive things about Centerstage. The teachers, staff and kids are so kind, caring and encouraging to each other. The support is unbelievable! My daughter has made amazing friends at this studio, many of whom are much older than she is, but they have helped coach and encourage her along the way and she looks up to them so much. I greatly appreciate the modest recital costumes and clothing, they are very much age appropriate. Perhaps most of all however, is the dedication of the owners and teachers. They truly pour their heart and soul into this studio and the children that attend it." - Jessica Vaughn, CS Mom

"Thank you for giving me a new family and a new place to call home. I owe who I am today to the CS Family." - Christian Wilken, Instructor from Nebraska
