Missing Class:
CenterStage cannot offer a refund for classes students have missed due to school activities, vacations, or illness. Students are more than welcome to "make up" by taking another class that is similar in style and level to the one they missed to help compensate for class time missed. With enough heads up, some instructors may be able to film class live and store it in Google Classrooms, or offer a live Zoom option for students to refer to!
If three or more classes are missed during the spring semester. The instructor may require the student to pay for private lesson(s) until the instructor believes the student is recital ready. This is to protect the integrity and hard work of the class.
Students in our leveled classes have additional attendance expectations of them. More information can be found in our waiver concerning this.
Cancellation Policy:
In the event that a parent wishes to withdraw a child from his/her dance class, the parent must notify our central office. Not meeting this requirement will cause your account to be charged for the following month’s tuition. Anyone who withdraws after November 3rd will be responsible for payment of the full costume fee.
Newsletters and Email Communication:
All communication from the studio to parents, including monthly newsletters, occurs through email. It is EXTREMELY important that parents read the complete newsletter every month to keep updated on studio happenings, fees due, events, etc. In addition to emailing the newsletter, we also post a copy of the newsletter on our website at performcenterstage.com. In addition to the newsletter, other email updates may be sent out periodically. PLEASE MAKE SURE that the office manager has your current email address on file so that you will not miss any important information. Please contact the office if you are not receiving your newsletters or other studio communication. Also, please check our CenterStage Facebook page. Sometimes our email goes to your spam folder, please make sure you add [email protected] to your address book.
Weather Related Closings:
We do NOT always close the studio when schools are closed due to inclement weather. Please check our website, Facebook page and answering machine for weather related closing information. While the studio may be physically closed, all classes will continue via Zoom and housed in the Google Classrooms. Links and directions will be sent out the morning of.
Parking:
We have limited parking in front of our studio. You may drop your children off at the front door IF they are 8 years or older. Please make sure that you see them enter the building. Please do NOT park in the entrance and exit areas of the parking lot or in the round about.
Parent Presence for Ages 2-6:
For students ages 2 to 6, we kindly request that parents remain in the lobby or on the porch during class. As younger students may need assistance with potty breaks, having a parent or guardian nearby ensures a quick and smooth process, allowing our teachers to focus on the class without interruptions.
Waiting/Lobby Area:
We will continue limiting the seating in the lobby and ask that all parents and siblings of dance students 7 and up stay in the car, or enjoy the CenterStage porch, while their dancer is in class, if the family chooses to remain on CenterStage property during the class time. Medical situations for the student or parent will be accommodated.
We do ask that dancers and families be aware of the volume in the lobby during pick up and drop off. It is quite cavernous and creates challenges for our office manager to answer phone calls.
The student lounge is only to be used by students who have a locker, are keeping large items like school back packs in storage, are eating snacks or dinner, or are doing homework. Students with breaks in between classes are more than welcome to quietly observe class in the theatre or wait quietly in the lobby.
Google Classroom:
We have learned that Google Classrooms is a great place to store class information! Moving forward, each class will have all their recital rehearsal videos housed here, as well as other class material. At the beginning of the year, each student will receive their password to access these virtual classrooms. It is very important that a student get set up with Zoom once they are given the password. This way, should a student need to Zoom last minute, it’s easy to get logged in.
Implementing Zoom:
We have discovered that teaching dance via Zoom is possible for the one-off situations (like a trip, Covid exposure, or generally not feeling well). In the event of a snow day or inclement weather, it’s a great solution so that no make up days are required. However, taking class on Zoom for more than a few weeks, unfortunately is not productive.
The dance classroom is crucial for a student to be able to see their bodies and correct mistakes. It is difficult, week to week, for an instructor to try and teach a student who is on Zoom, along with his/her other classmates physically in the dance classroom. Without this physical interaction, an instructor really cannot chart a student or see what they have mastered. Additionally, students in our Level 1 - 3 classes have trouble staying focused, and the instructor has additional challenges trying to keep them engaged as well as the students their physical classroom. This season, we can no longer accommodate students who wish to Zoom for longer than a week or so.
Students who begin to Zoom in often to class may still be required to take private lessons in order to catch up with their class.
Sickness:
We do ask that if a student is not feeling well, that they stay home to recover. If we know ahead of time, instructors can prepare to film class and post to the Google Classroom so that the student can watch class at home, or “make up” the class when they feel better.
