Student Theatre Program
At CenterStage, you can participate in musicals and variety shows! Students can choose which shows they would like to participate in, with a new show rehearsing about every seven weeks. With 6 shows a year (4 variety shows and two musicals) you can do as many or as few shows as you would like!
Our SpringBoard variety shows are created with a theme, and written around the students who are participating, so every dancer, singer, and actor is showcased and has a chance to shine. All ages, 7 years and up (depending on the show!), are welcome to participate in our SpringBoard program and no previous performing experience is required.
From a training perspective, why SpringBoard? I mean, first, it's fun! However, many professional opportunities to work and perform come through cruise ships or theme parks, and these jobs are usually a variety show or cabaret, not a booked musical. Our SpringBoard shows will give. your student the experience of having to learn and perform multiple numbers of different styles and genres while incorporating things like characterization and costume changes for each show.

**Auditions:** Please read very carefully!
Students do not need to audition to be a cast member in A Journey On Broadway. The directors work hard to make sure each student is featured in the performance. However, if students are interested in a vocal solo, speaking role or being placed in a more advanced dance group they must audition. Only students who are registered for A Journey On Broadway may audition.
**If you are unable to attend the in-person auditions, a video audition can be submitted. This should, however, be a last resort as in-person auditions let us know if you can handle the pressures of performing in front of a live audience. The directors must be notified in advance and videos must be submitted no later than 12:00pm on Saturday, August 15th. No video submissions will be accepted after this time.
Before submitting, please make sure that the track does not overpower your vocalist. For dance videos, please make sure we can see you from head to toe. Dance auditions should be filmed from the front and in a space you can move! Video submissions can be sent to [email protected]
Audition Signup:
A Sign Up Genius is located in the body of the Welcome email you received. Please review the available Sign Up Genius slots in your Welcome email and click on the button to sign up. Include your name and select all categories you are auditioning for in your sign up. These slots do not guarantee you a certain audition time; it simply lets us know how many students we can expect that day.
For the Dance Audition:
We will be holding dance auditions on Saturday, August 15th starting at 9:30am. Students will be asked to memorize a dance sent out a week ahead of time. Participating in the dance audition will help our team place your student within a dance group that challenges them according to their technical ability. It is important that students audition - regardless of whether they are in a weekly dance class. Students who choose not to participate in the dance call will be placed in our most beginning dance group. Please let us know during your dance audition if you have any special skills such as tumbling, gymnastics, baton, color guard, juggling, etc.
For the Vocal Audition:
We will be holding in-person vocal auditions on Saturday, August 15th starting at 10:00am. Students need to prepare a Broadway style song approximately 1 minute in length (about a verse and chorus) to sing for the directors. Please do not sing a capella (without music)! Students who audition a capella, sing along with an artist or have lyrics in front of them will only be assigned group vocal work. Please arrive prepared!
Please provide a karaoke track for your audition on your phone or tablet. Please provide a dongle if your device does not have an auxiliary input. If you do not have a device, you can email us an MP3 or a YouTube link of your karaoke track and we can play it off one of our devices. Email links/mp3s to [email protected]
For the Speaking Roles:
We will be holding in-person auditions on Saturday, August 15th starting at 10:00am.Students will perform cold reads from select sections of the show. - Tickets - $12 for adults, $10.00 for children 10 and under/not sitting in a lap, military, and senior citizens + $4.00 surcharge. Ticket sales help us make up the other half of the show costs that tuition does not cover, which include paying our instructors, purchasing costumes, props, sets, and new technical equipment like microphones and spotlights to make the show the best it can be!

The casting team will be making assignments based on the preparation and performance we see in your video audition. Before submitting, please make sure that the track does not overpower your vocalist. With the special way that Deck the Halls is written, we make it a priority to feature all of our students in their gifts and talents. There are opportunities where only students in our ballet program as well as those taking current tap, jazz, and lyrical classes will be featured in a unique way. In order to be considered for these opportunities, students must currently be enrolled in those classes.

This show presents a live in concert experience showcasing popular music in multiple genres.
Students will meet on Mondays for a 5 week theater intensive and gain training in performing a professional quality concert inspired by the live tours and music videos of some of popular music’s biggest stars, past and present.

Students do not need to audition to be a cast member in Pop Show 2027 . The director works hard to make sure each student is featured in the performance. However, if students are interested in a vocal solo or being placed in a more advanced dance group they must submit a video audition.
Please email your audition video to [email protected] no later than 10:00pm on Monday, February 22nd.
For the Vocal Audition:
Students should prepare a Pop, Rock, Gospel or Country song approximately 1 minute in length (about a verse and chorus) to sing for the director. Please do not sing a capella (without music)! Students who audition a capella, sing along with an artist or have lyrics in front of them will only be assigned group vocal work .
Remember, just because you are auditioning via video doesn't mean you shouldn't give your audition your all! The casting team will be making assignments based on the preparation and performance we see in your video audition. Before submitting, please make sure that the track does not overpower your vocalist.
Submissions after February 22nd may not be considered for a solo depending on if the creative team has already cast the show. *If you do not receive confirmation from us that we have received your audition video by February 24th, please give us a call at 615.230.9341!
For the Dance Auditions:
Students will be asked to memorize a group dance sent out a week ahead of time. There will be separate dances for Elementary (ages 7-10) & Middle/High (Ages 11-18). *A tap choreo video may be sent out in addition to the group dance for those interested in a tap audition.
Instead of a live audition, we will only be accepting a filmed audition. Dance auditions should be filmed from the front and in a space you can move! Participating in the dance audition will help our team place your student within a dance group that will challenge them according to their technical ability. It is important that students audition - regardless of whether they are in a weekly dance class. Students who choose not to participate in the dance call will be placed in our most beginning dance group.

Registration Opens February 1st!
Summer Musical Theatre Program
Our summer musical is open to students 7 years and up with no formal auditioning required. Students interested in an opportunity for a lead or speaking role must audition. The summer musicals are mounted in two weeks (June 2027) and rehearsed between the hours of 10 am and 6 pm. Attendance every day is a requirement. Registration opens February 1st, 2027! Show will be announced at Deck the Halls, this December!
